Following the screening, filmmaker Hilan Warshaw joins BBS artistic director and violinist Eugene Drucker for a conversation about Bach’s life, music, and the ideas behind the documentary.
It’s also ravishingly beautiful with a thoroughly original visual style, and perfectly cast and acted with lyrics articulated with more clarity than I’ve heard before. Director Joe Calarco’s talent lies in heightening the fantasy while preserving the magic.
All in all, this is a lively, sexy, glitzy, sophisticated example of the best that Broadway has provoked from its creative talent pool in the 20th century.
