Marcel P. Boibeaux, 77, of Sheffield

Marcel and his wife, Joan, owned the Sheffield Pub. Marcel was a 5-star cook, and an expert in solving the New York Times crossword puzzle. He was the kind of person who would give you help when you are in need, be it money, advice or the shirt off his back.

Marcel Paul Boibeaux, 77, of Sheffield died Thursday August 20, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. He was born in Stockbridge on March 19, 1938, son of Felix I. and Iola (Eldridge) Boibeaux.

Marcel worked as a manager at First National Stores, never missing a day of work for over 20 years in Canaan (Conn.), Pittsfield and Great Barrington. He worked for Clark Aiken, an airplane parts manufacturing company in Lee, quickly moving to management. He co-owned the Sheffield Pub in Sheffield with his wife Joan.

Marcel was the kind of person who would give you help when you are in need, be it money, advice or the shirt off his back. He loved to get together with his guys at the horse track, sharing a good meal if they were winners. He loved to go to the beach with his family and vacation with Joan in Florida.

Marcel was a 5-star cook. He was expert at the New York Times crossword puzzle, and clever at solving Jeopardy clues. Marcel loved the New York Yankees, a loyalty he shared with his father.

From an early age Marcel was a gifted artist, drawing lifelike animals, plants and landscapes. He came from a family of 11 children, and often talked of his mother, father and siblings whom he loved. Marcel was a smart, faithful, honest, hard working person who gained the friendship of many people including the gang at the Pub and the adoration of his family, including his caring family at Great Barrington Rehab. He was a man of few words, speaking the ones that mattered.

Marcel is survived by his wife Joan (Broverman) Boibeaux of Sheffield whom he married on February 19, 1958; one son, Kevin Boibeaux of Sheffield; one daughter, Shari Boibeaux-Mahoney and her husband Howard of Bethesda Md.; one brother, Timothy Boibeaux Sr. of Bristol, Conn.;, two sisters, Kathy Fellows of Canaan, Conn., and Ravenna Lewis of Amsterdam, N.Y.; and six grandchildren, Howie “Kyle” Mahoney, Cormac Mahoney, Fionnuala Mahoney, Benjamin Dupont, Marcie Timm and Joel Timm and their father Ken Timm. Marcel was predeceased by two daughters, Jacqueline R. Boibeaux and Michele J. Boibeaux, three brothers, Louis, Philip and Bruce Boibeaux, and two sisters, Patricia and Gabrielle.

A graveside service for Marcel P. Boibeaux will be held on Saturday September 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Ahavath Sholom Cemetery in Great Barrington. A celebration of Marcel’s life and Michele’s life will follow at the Canaan V.F.W. in Canaan, Conn. BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME entrusted with arrangements.
