Wilbur was a words-smith extraordinaire, and I have a special fondness for his writing. At a time when lesser poets were beating the drum for free-form modernism, he was quietly perfecting the formal approach with its intricate rhymes and traditional structures. All this served up with wit and elegance.

In 1994, with his eldest son Peter, he opened Barrington Outfitters in Great Barrington, and it gave him great pride to have his youngest son Richard join the family business a few years later.
Jill was devoted to her entire family and was considered a homemaker, but did enjoy the years that she worked in the cafeteria at Mount Everett Regional High School in Sheffield.
John began his insurance career with companies in Newark, New Jersey, and in Boston and later joined the Wheeler & Taylor agency in Great Barrington. He served as its president from 1976 until his retirement in 1985.
