ICE sightings at Allendale Plaza in Pittsfield

ICE has made its presence known in Berkshire County starting on March 19 and has detained at least 10 people, but the exact number of detainees, and why they were detained, is not known.

Pittsfield — On its Facebook page on Sunday, March 23, the business Witch Slapped posted photographs of sightings of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials at the Allendale Plaza on 5 Cheshire Rd.

The photos show what the moderator of Witch Slapped’s Facebook page states is confirmed sightings of ICE agents:

This comes as at least 10 people have been reportedly detained by ICE in Berkshire County, starting on March 19 in Pittsfield, Lee, and Lenox.

According Witch Slapped owner Danielle Munn, ICE agents were previously spotted at Berkshire Peak Apartments at 341 West Street before they made their way to Allendale Plaza.

According to Pittsfield Police Chief Thomas Dawley, ICE notified the Police Department on the morning of March 23 that they would be in Pittsfield.

Dawley wrote via email that “no other information was provided to us and PPD was not involved.”

Update 6:35 p.m. on March 23: The Berkshire Edge confirmed that employees at a business across the street from Allendale Plaza observed ICE officials in the parking lot of Goodwill by the donation center between 1 and 2:15 p.m.
