Connecticut resident killed in Otis tractor trailer accident

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Otis — Antonio Marcucci, 32, of Waterbury, Conn., was killed in a tractor trailer collision during the morning of Thursday, March 5.

According to Berkshire District Attorney’s Office Chief Operating Officer Julia Sabourin, the accident took place at approximately 9 a.m. at 1322 South Main Road.

When officers arrived at the scene they found two tractor trailers, one in the northbound lane, and one in the southbound lane, lodged in a snowbank.

Marcucci, who was driving the Connecticut registered tractor trailer and was in the northbound lane, was pinned inside the cab of his truck.

The other driver who was driving a tractor trailer registered in Oklahoma, did not receive serious injuries.

Marcucci was transported to Baystate Medical Center by Otis EMS where he was pronounced dead.

“The Connecticut tractor trailer lost control veering off the other side of the road ultimately ending on the southbound lane,” Sabourin wrote. “Shortly after, the two tractor trailers collided in a head on collision.”

Sabourin wrote that an investigation into the accident is ongoing.

The driver of the other tractor trailer was not identified in the press release.
