Edward J. Abbott Jr., 90 of Ashley Falls died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday February 12, 2019 at Kimball Farms in Lenox. Edward was born in Montague, Mass., on October 11, 1928, son of Edward J. Sr. and Mable M. (Letourneau) Abbott. He attended the former Searles High School. Edward proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
After returning home Edward began working at Becton Dickinson in maintenance, then as a machine operator, then in set up and finally as supervisor. He retired from Becton Dickinson after 32 years on April 16, 1993. Edward was an avid bowler.
Edward is survived by his wife, Blanche E. (Badger) Abbott of Ashley Falls whom he married on October 18, 1952 in Hartsville, Mass., his son, Roger E. Abbott of Pittsfield; his daughter, Terry Dumont of Ashley Falls; one sister, Theresa Moore of Housatonic; three grandsons, three great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by sister Dorothy Barbieri.
In keeping with Edward’s wishes all services were private.
