Ashamed of Gov. Baker’s policy toward Syrian refugees

In his letter to the editor, David Harris writes: "I hope our fair-minded citizens will let Gov. Baker know we find unacceptable... his refusal to offer refuge.

To the Editor:

I am ashamed to read Governor Baker has taken the position that Massachusetts will not welcome Syrian refugees after the Paris attacks. Trump was elected because people relied on the promises he made, but curbing inflation; lowering the high costs of food, gas, and electricity; improving access to healthcare; and restoring affordability have basically been ignored.

Why should second-home owners in Great Barrington subsidize well-off full-time residents?

Even if they won't be receiving a reduction, primary residents of means would still benefit from a system that levies higher taxes on second-home owners but not on them.
