Raymond A. Wells, 74, passed away Feb. 2, 2020, at his home on Maple Avenue in Sheffield, surrounded by his daughters.

A native and lifelong resident, Raymond was born Jan. 30, 1946, in Great Barrington, the son of the late Leonard Samuel Wells and Marie Tompkins Wells. He was a graduate of the Mount Everett Regional High School class of 1964 and Wentworth Institute in Boston class of 1966. Later in life Raymond went on to continue his education. He received a degree from the Gemological Institute of America in 1980 and Berkshire Community College in 2001.
Mr. Wells enlisted in the U.S. Army in September 1966 and was honorably discharged in September 1969. Ray was an active member of Greenwoods Community Church where he participated in their men’s Bible group. He was a former member of the Cincinnatus Lodge AF & AM as well a 35-year member of AA. He enjoyed bingo at the Sheffield Senior Center, camping, gardening and just relaxing in the sun out on his porch. He was also a NASCAR fan.
Raymond is survived by his two daughters: Jessica Winn and husband Michael, and Gillian Wells and partner TJ Harrigan; his three grandsons: Michael and Patrick Winn and Aidan Harrigan Wells; and his siblings Allen Wells and wife Carol, Antronet Clukey and Loraine Fisher and husband Scott. He also leaves his honorary children, Joan and Andy Wright; his former wife Laura Scholz Guyette and husband Bruce; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Jack and David Wells, and his sister Shirley Baldwin.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Greenwoods Community Church, 355 Clayton Road, Ashley Falls, conducted by Pastor Trip Weiler. Burial will follow at Sheffield Center Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
