Great Barrington — A reported incident at the Timberlyn Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 320 Maple Ave. is under investigation by the Police Department.
Earlier this week, The Berkshire Edge received a phone call from a reader who said that the incident took place on Saturday, February 25. The reader said that they filed a complaint with the Police Department, and that a patient was removed from the facility by the department because they were covered in bruises.
The Berkshire Edge sent an email to Police Chief Paul Storti asking about the incident. “I can only say that this is an ongoing investigation by Officer [Andres] Huertas,” Chief Storti wrote in his email. “I have no information at this point to share.”
Timberlyn Heights is owned by Bear Mountain Healthcare of Thomaston, Conn. According to the company’s website, it owns 17 healthcare centers throughout the state, along with one healthcare center in New Hampshire. The company would not respond to calls for comment for this story.
The state’s Department of Public Health put Timberlyn Heights on its list of admission freezes as of February 23, 2022. The Berkshire Edge contacted the department but has not received a response at the time of publication.
According to Katheleen Conti, representative from the state Department of Public Health, the department has received a total of 27 consumer complaints and incidents self-reported by the facility from January 1, 2022 to March 1, 2023.
