We can throw up our hands in disbelief and fear.
We can embrace a sorrow that we barely understand.
We can weep for the innocent and lost.
We can rage at mindless killing.
We can turn our faces to the God of our understanding
and plead, pray, shout, cry. We can rant. We can rage.
We can fold ourselves into a comfortless silence.
We can do all of these things but at the end
of our grieving we must take love up into our arms.
We must choose love harder and longer, choose
to shine a light onto whatever shadows we harbor,
choose to manifest love not in words but in how we live
as we put one foot in front of the other into each day, this day.
The each and every day we are blessed to be able to
love, to live love, insist on love and to stand up against lovelessness
in whatever form it takes. Each day love arrives on our door step
needing, wanting, demanding expression.
Love did not die in Orlando. And fear does not have the last word.
Shalom. Shalom. Shalom.
