Morneau a progressive candidate for Governor’s Council

In his letter to the editor, Richard Dohoney writes: "It is imperative that we are represented on the Governor's Council by someone who understands Berkshire County and represents our values."

To the Editor:

Please do not overlook the race for Governor’s Council tomorrow and please consider voting for Jeff Morneau. A Governor’s Councilor does three primary things, vets and votes on judges, clerk-magistrates and parole board members nominated by the Governor and votes on pardons and commutations. It is imperative that we are represented on the Governor’s Council by someone who understands Berkshire County and represents our values. Jeff Morneau is that guy.

Jeff currently serves as President of the Hampden County Bar Association and I have had the pleasure of working with him on issues affecting the judiciary in Berkshire County. He is a smart, progressive thinker who understands the need for reform in our judicial system. More importantly, he is a dedicated and engaged attorney who understands that our judges should be selected based on what they know, not who they know.

Please join me in supporting Jeff Morneau for Governor’s Council.

Why I’m participating in the No Kings national mobilization

We can stop Trump. To do so we need to keep reminding him and his MAGA loyalists that we live in a constitutional democracy, not a monarchy.

Donald Trump’s failed presidency

Trump was elected because people relied on the promises he made, but curbing inflation; lowering the high costs of food, gas, and electricity; improving access to healthcare; and restoring affordability have basically been ignored.

Why should second-home owners in Great Barrington subsidize well-off full-time residents?

Even if they won't be receiving a reduction, primary residents of means would still benefit from a system that levies higher taxes on second-home owners but not on them.
