To the editor:
For years, the alt right has rallied around conspiracy theories that were founded on hard-to-believe emanations without a speck of truth to back them up. Despite their questionable nature, they were swallowed whole by some without much questioning.
Speculation about Pizzagate, an alleged Democrat pedophilia group having sex with children and performing ritual killings. Claims that wealthy Jews, specifically the Rothschild family, were using space lasers to create wildfires in California and controlling elements of the economy for their benefit. JD Vance claiming Haitians in Springfield, Ohio, were eating people’s pets. These are all conspiracy theories that were easily debunked but were somehow kept alive by a gullible audience that seems to need fuel for what they love to hate. But I have a conspiracy theory that may be rooted in reality.
Despite everyone, including MAGA, wanting to see the unredacted Epstein files, the White House continues to orchestrate a coverup. This was evident when Trump was overheard telling Marjorie Taylor Greene that if the names came out, good friends of his would be hurt. But I think there may be a more compelling reason for a coverup.
In the Trump’s hush money trial, Stormy Daniels testified under oath that Trump did not use “protection.” It doesn’t take a medical degree to know what that can lead to. If those in Epstein’s circle were as careless as Trump was with Daniels, or had an “uh-oh” moment, one might speculate that Epstein had a doctor on speed dial to remedy the situation. Perhaps all of this is laid out in a string of emails from people who would lose their squeaky clean public images, successful business careers, and families due to their embarrassing indiscretions.
Conspiracy theory? Or perhaps this is why Trump is willing to do whatever it takes, including taking down the Republican majorities in both houses of Congress, which is the likely fallout for ignoring the public demand for transparency, while trying to make sure the Epstein files never reach an unredacted public view.
