Diane Wheeler, 83, of Lee

Charles and Diane were married Oct. 21, 1953, and, after raising five children, traveled the United States and Canada in their fifth wheel RV and wintered in the Ancient Oaks community of Okeechobee, Florida.

Diane Wheeler, 83, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening at her home in Lee. Diane was born January 24, 1935, in Pittsfield to John Howard and Gertrude Osee (LePrevost) Stevenson of Lee.

She graduated from Lee High School in 1952. Diane worked in the cost department of General Electric, and as a secretary for Lee High School and Mead Paper Corporation. Charles and Diane were married Oct. 21, 1953, and, after raising five children, traveled the United States and Canada in their fifth wheel RV and wintered in the Ancient Oaks community of Okeechobee, Florida. A devoted wife and wonderful mother and grandmother, Diane attended countless ball games, concerts and graduations, and was an avid Red Sox fan. She was a great woman who loved her family, friends and beloved dog, Mandy. She was well-loved, and will be greatly missed and remembered with pride and gratitude always.

She is survived by her husband, Charles, of 65 years; son Daniel (Susan); daughters Tamera Ferguson, Tari Roosa (Peter), Tracy Williams (Heamon), and Daryl Kuhn (Jeff); grandchildren Carly (Caleb), Evan (Sarah), Bryant, Ali (Matthew), William (Alexa), Michaela, Heamon, Jeffrey, Colin, Michael, Kendra and Robert; great-grandson August; sister-in-law Barbara Perry (Crosby); and nephew, Jeff Stevenson (Dina). She was predeceased by a brother, Bruce Stevenson; and nephew John E. Stevenson.

A service of celebration was held Saturday, Sept. 29, at the First Congregational Church of Lee. In lieu of flowers, Diane asked that donations be made to the church at P.O. Box 395, Lee, MA 01238. To leave a message of condolence or share pictures with the family, visit www.kellyfuneralhome.net.
