Mario Buffoni, 88, of Lee

Mr. Buffoni attended Lee schools and was a mason contractor for over 40 years. He served in the Korean War, and among other awards received a purple heart.

Mario Buffoni, of Lee, age 88, passed away April 28, 2017 at Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Buffoni attended Lee schools and was a mason contractor for over 40 years. He served in the Korean War. He received a Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal, The National Defense Service Medal, The Korean Service Medal with four bronze stars, Combat Infantry badge and The United Nations Service Medal.

He was survived by his wife, Karen Avalle, of Lee; his daughter and son-in-law Diane and Dave Maynes; and granddaughter Rebecca Maynes of Pittsfield.

Additionally, he is survived by his three sisters: Lea Zavattoro, Vera Giarolo and Gloria Griffin; sister-in-law Perinna Buffoni and his brother and sister-in-law Lawrence “Babe” and Marie Buffoni, along with many nieces and nephews.

He married Karen Avalle and they were together for thirty two years which added to his extended family. Mario leaves behind his step-children: Frank Avalle Jr., Larry Avalle, Lisa Conner, Trisha Garrity and Andrea Wadsworth; nine step-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren, all of whom played an important role in his life.

Funeral Services for Mario Buffoni will be held Wednesday, May 3rd at 11 a.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held Tuesday evening, May 2 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Candace Gerard, 80, formerly of Great Barrington

Funeral services for Candace Gerard will be held on Friday March 20, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the Birches-Roy Funeral Home, with Reverend William P. Murphy officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 20, from 9 to 10 a.m.

Thomas B. Finn Jr., 75, of Pembroke, Mass.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor on March 28 at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston, Mass.

Laurie Platt Winfrey Shnayerson, 83, of Hillsdale, N.Y.

The family plans a private memorial and asks that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Roeliff Jansen Community Library.
