Lee — The town of Lee celebrates historic Founders Weekend on September 15, 16, and 17. It is a community-wide festival held throughout downtown in the so-called “Gateway to the Berkshires.” The old photograph by Chauncey Cutting shown above features firefighters battling a blaze on Main Street in downtown Lee. The exact date is a bit of a mystery, but it was likely taken in the 1880s. A similar present-day view is shown below.
