PETER MOST: The school funding formula that defies logic

Times have changed, but the formula remains stuck in 1949. The wealth disparities between neighboring towns simply did not exist at anything like their current scale. The founders of the regional school system could not have foreseen the inequity their formula has imposed on most towns today.

Egremont Green News: Historic hurricane season leaves us wanting a better bottle bill

The idea was to collect 5-cent deposit beverage containers from the town transfer station and send the money to victims of a historically destructive month of hurricanes. In the process, we also developed some ideas about how the Massachusetts Bottle Bill, a good thing, could be made even better.

Paula Poundstone regularly performs standup comedy across the country and recently released the book “The Totally Unscientific Study of the Search for Human Happiness.”

Each spacecraft contains a golden record that contains 115 photographs, greetings in many languages and samples of music. One of the photographs was taken by Williams College astronomer Jay Pasachoff.

Visit Lenox will organize the donated items and ship them to vetted relief agencies so they can be distributed to those in need.
