Ren Graber, 73, of Sheffield, retired Mt. Everett dean of students

He was an accomplished athlete, excelling in football and baseball, earning a scholarship in football and a tryout with the New York Mets in baseball.

Rennald V. Graber IV, 73, of Sheffield died Tuesday, Jan. 15, at home surrounded by his loving family. Rennald was born May 26, 1945, at Mitchell Field Hospital on Long Island, New York, the son of Rennald V. Graber III and Pearl (Mann) Graber. After graduating from high school, Rennald went on to Springfield College, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and later attained a master’s degree in education at UMass Amherst. He was an accomplished athlete, excelling in football and baseball, earning a scholarship in football and a tryout with the New York Mets in baseball. Rennald worked for 35 years at Mount Everett Regional High School where he was the dean of students. He loved children, dogs, the Boston Red Sox and spending time with his family.

Rennald is survived by his wife, Paulette (Fetcinko) Graber of Sheffield; and his daughter, Heather Coon.

A celebration of life for Ren will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at Crissey Farm in Great Barrington, MA 01230 from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Rennald’s memory may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
