POEM: Making peace

History reveals all foes must speak at some point...

What’s wrong with diplomacy?
Enemies turn toward friendship.
Conversation shakes hands
across borders
once filled with hostility.

When acknowledged
the language can be defined
to make a new peace—
understanding no wish to return
to what was.

History reveals
all foes must speak
at some point
so the world turns
toward its destiny of peace –
where all life
enmeshes lovingly.
