Phyllis Pickert, 89, of Ashley Falls

Phyllis was a bookkeeper by training and worked in that vein for the McTerry Corporation, Maplewood Fabrics, the Bradford Auction Galleries, and Warren and Macchi Builders in Sheffield.

Phyllis Pickert of Ashley Falls passed away Friday, April 27, 2018, surrounded by her family at the age of 89.

Born Phyllis May Coro Feb. 11, 1929, in North Anson, Maine, of the late Frank and Amy (Otis) Coro, Phyllis was a graduate of Anson Academy in North Anson, Maine, and Nasson College in Springvale, Maine, and lived also in Keene, New Hampshire, and Watertown, Connecticut, before settling in the Berkshires in the early 1960s. She was a resident of Ashley Falls for over 50 years. Phyllis was a bookkeeper by training and worked in that vein for the McTerry Corporation, Maplewood Fabrics, the Bradford Auction Galleries, and Warren and Macchi Builders in Sheffield. In addition, she waitressed part time at local restaurants including the former Caesar’s and the Bridge Restaurant (formerly the Shed). Phyllis enjoyed gardening (flowers), music (Kenny G), and community service. She was an active member of the Sheffield Kiwanis Club and was Kiwanian of the Year in 2006.

She was predeceased by her first husband Albert Charles Watson (1969), and her second husband Harold W. Pickert (2001) as well as her brother Fred Coro, sister Frances Savage and stepdaughter Effie Mae Bushnell (1997). She is survived by a sister, Florence Lovejoy, of Maine; a brother, Norman Coro, of Arizona; and her six children and their spouses: Daniel Watson and Debbie Segalla, Boni and Stanley Dupont, David and Debra Watson, Susan Watson, Alice Trella, Patti Stevens, and stepdaughter Paula Weir. Phyllis also leaves behind her grandchildren: Jeff Watson, Shane Watson, Mindi Kushi, Joshua Dupont, Nichole Dupont, Jacob Dupont, Kathryn Sarcone, Sarah Watson, Benjamin Watson, Michael Capasse, Ryan Capasse, Jessica Trella, Shelby Trella, Dylan Stevens and Erin Stevens; and step-grandchildren Mark Jasmin, Michele Marchi, Todd Jasmin, Kathi Jo Griener, Sandra Mangan, Louis Bushnell Jr. and Heidi Lashoones; 14 great-grandchildren; a host of friends; and her faithful dog, Buddy.

A celebration of her life will be held Friday, May 4, at 1 p.m. at 194 Main St., Ashley Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Sheffield Kiwanis Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 683, Sheffield, MA 01257.
