Finally, there’s snow for the sleigh rally at Orleton Farm

It is always a thrill to break out your sleigh. An authentic Currier and Ives moment if ever there was one.

Stockbridge — The Colonial Carriage and Driving Society showed their determination and mettle on Sunday last at the Orleton Farm on Prospect Hill Road. They hadn’t been able to hold the Winter Sleigh Rally for the past two years due to lack of snow. It is no surprise that they turned out in force to finally hold one after getting the surface needed. It is always a thrill to break out your sleigh. More so when you’ve waited so long. Even though the day was dampened by sporadic light precipitation and the resulting icy surfaces, competitors were enthusiastic and happy to be together doing what they love. Spectators came and enjoyed sleigh rides, a huge bonfire and the beautiful spectacle of horses and ponies flying around pulling finely painted antique sleighs. An authentic Currier and Ives moment if ever there was one.
