Robert Ayers has been a truck driver, factory worker, speechwriter and university professor in England, a performance artist in Australia, France and Scotland, an artist’s apprentice in New York City, a novelist and art critic in Seattle, and a journalist in Philadelphia, Toronto and San Francisco. He now lives in our part of the world where he just draws his dogs.

MASS MoCA, crucible of contemporary art, is expanding

The current (Phase III) expansion is the most ambitious yet. It will add a further 90,000 square feet of exhibition space, taking the total to more than 250,000 square feet, making MASS MoCA the largest contemporary art museum in the world.

We should congratulate curator Jay A. Clarke and her team for putting together this eye-opening exhibition of their work, and in particular for drawing attention to Sybil Andrews (1898-1992), a largely forgotten artist of the first rank.
