Frank Gorham Jr., 88, of Great Barrington

Frank worked for 37 years as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1989.

John ‘Zip’ Zanin, 94, of Housatonic

Zip worked as an electrician for Rising Paper Mill, Barrington Electric and Berkshire Hills Regional School District, and was the wire inspector for the Town of Great Barrington for many years–he was the longest serving town officer in Berkshire County.

Martha Eichstedt, 78, of New Marlborough

Martha worked for many years as a school bus aide for Bachetti’s and Ormsbee Bus Company and a chambermaid the Lamplighter Hotel.

Rita R. Maitland, 90, of Lenox

She was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She enjoyed her time as a volunteer at Berkshire Medical Center and for HospiceCare in the Berkshires and was an avid golfer.

Thomas McDowell, 81, of Lenox, production manager for Mike Douglas Show

Tom was the production manager for the Mike Douglas Show and a television account executive in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was recognized as a broadcast pioneer and was also active in the Christian Business Men’s Committee.

Anne Harrison, 74, of Lenox

She volunteered with Berkshire Women for Women, the Berkshire Immigrant Center literacy mentoring program, and donated regularly to local cultural and social justice organizations.

Edna Piretti, 89, of Lenox, co-founded Lenox Chamber of Commerce

In the 1960s she and her sister Helen Fillio went to real estate school in Springfield, then opened Tanglewood Realty on the corner of Housatonic and Church Streets in Lenox where they also sold Sheffield Pottery. Together they established the Lenox Chamber of Commerce.

Richard Armstrong, 88, of Sheffield

Richard Armstrong was the former vice president and general manager of Sheffield Plastics for many years.

At the Fairview Hospital Family Birthplace a girl born on August 29.

William Dewkett Sr., 96, of Lee

Mr. Dewkett served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Technician Fourth Grade, 113th Ordnance Medium Maintenance Co. in the Bismarck – Archipelago Campaign.

David Fay, 82, of Otis

David was a Eucharistic minister and was involved with the Knights of Columbus in Lee. Mr. Fay was also active with the Shriners and St. Jude.

Louis Pasquarelli, 91, of Pittsfield

He loved working outdoors and taking care of his home and working in his workshop. He was a man of all trades.

At the Fairview Hospital Family Birthplace, three boys and a girl were born in the past week.
