Dewey Hall to host tribute to Doc Watson
Sheffield — Dewey Hall will host a Doc Watson tribute concert with Chris Brashear, Jim Henry and Paul Kochanski Friday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m.
Watson influenced generations of acoustic guitarists with his legendary flatpicking and fingerpicking styles, soulful singing and rich repertoire of ballads and popular songs. “Shady Grove,” “Tom Dooley,” “Black Mountain Rag” and “The Hesitation Blues” are among many classic standards from Doc Watson’s seminal and widely acclaimed recordings.

Egremont Barn to welcome Maya Hawke, Jesse Harris
South Egremont — The Egremont Barn will welcome Maya Hawke with Jesse Harris Saturday, March 7, at 8 p.m.
Actress, singer and lyricist Hawke plays Robin on “Stranger Things” and a Flower Child in the Quentin Tarantino film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” She and Grammy Award-winning songwriter Harris have been collaborating on songs together since 2017 and are releasing an album in 2020. The single and B-side “To Love a Boy” and “Stay Open” were released in August 2019.

Claire Teague Senior Center to offer juggling classes
Great Barrington — The Claire Teague Senior Center will offer juggling classes from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on each Friday in March. Led by instructor Paul Scholder, the classes are free and open to the public, and are geared toward aspiring jugglers of all ages. Mason Library to screen ‘An American Ascent’
Great Barrington — The Friends of the Great Barrington Libraries will screen the documentary film “An American Ascent” Saturday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Mason Library.
In the 2014 film, nine mountaineers attempt to become the first all-African-American team to climb Denali, North America’s highest peak, on the 100th anniversary of its first summit. The film addresses often overlooked issues of race and the outdoors as it follows the team up the mountain, chronicling the many challenges of climbing one of the world’s most iconic peaks.
The event is part of the Friends’ First Saturday Free Film Series and will begin with a wine and cheese social at 7 p.m. More socializing and community discussion will follow the film until 10 p.m. The film does not reflect endorsement or advocacy for any particular point of view by the library or the town of Great Barrington.
