Edna Piretti, 89, of Lenox, co-founded Lenox Chamber of Commerce

In the 1960s she and her sister Helen Fillio went to real estate school in Springfield, then opened Tanglewood Realty on the corner of Housatonic and Church Streets in Lenox where they also sold Sheffield Pottery. Together they established the Lenox Chamber of Commerce.

Edna Elizabeth Lasher Piretti, 89, of Tucker Street, died Sunday at her home. Born in Lenox Dale Jan. 14, 1928, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Gallagher Lasher, she attended local schools, was a 1944 graduate of Lenox High School and attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing.

Mrs. Piretti was a homemaker as well as a licensed real estate broker for many years. In the 1960s she and her sister Helen Fillio went to real estate school in Springfield, then opened Tanglewood Realty on the corner of Housatonic and Church Streets in Lenox where they also sold Sheffield Pottery. Together they established the Lenox Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Piretti was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She was a loving and caring grandmother and great-grandmother and took great pleasure in spending time with each of them. Her door was always open and you could expect the tea water to be hot, the cookies to be waiting, and her ears to be open.

Her husband of 50 years, H. Richard Piretti, died Feb. 10, 1996. Mrs. Piretti is survived by her son Richard J. Piretti and wife Kathleen of Lenox; her daughter Gale E. Bruseghini and Richard Daly of Housatonic; daughter-in-law Mary Jo Piretti Miller and husband Lenny of Lenox; grandchildren Richard F. Piretti and wife Donna of Lenox, Angela M. Bruseghini of Lenox, Pamela M. Higgins and husband Timothy of Reading, Hannah P. Keator and husband Matthew of Lenox, Luke Piretti and wife Lauren of Boston, and Conner Piretti and wife Tessa of Denver, Colorado; and great grandchildren Gabrielle, Caroline, Rocco, Julia, Charlie, Michael, Colman and Race. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Peter J. Piretti, her brother Bud Lasher, and her sister Helen Fillio.

The funeral of Mrs. Edna E. Piretti of Lenox will be Friday, Sept. 8, at 9:30 a.m. from the Roche Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church celebrated by the Rev. Monsignor John J. Bonzagni, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be Friday, Sept. 8, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Stephen Joseph Tynan, 67, of Great Barrington
