In retirement she worked for Elder Services of Berkshire County for four years and later was an ombudsman for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for three years, where she was recognized for and awarded for her “outstanding service” to the community.

March 11 marked Gunn’s 90th birthday; his fervent wish is to see his family’s church preserved and returned to the center of community life.

Ernest Galliford, 90, of Lenox

He was a member of Hope Church in Lenox and the Lenox VFW Post, and enjoyed gardening and reading.

Mary Mazur, 96, of Pittsfield

She was a member of the Massachusetts Audubon Society and certified their longtime home on Williams Street, Pittsfield, with the National Wildlife Association as a wildlife habitat.

Genevieve Powers, 87, of Lenox Dale

She worked at Browns Express from 1950-56, Peter J. Schweitzer from 1956-66, and George VanZandt until 1994 when she retired.

Bernard Kirchner, 95, of Lenox

Bernard was a past president of the Berkshire Coin Club, longtime member of the Lions Club in both Lenox and Pittsfield, and a member of the Berkshire Museum Aquarium Club.

Patricia Plue, 80, of Pittsfield

Following her 1996 retirement from Suburban Propane in Bennington, Vermont, she proceeded to “just do it,” expanding her ongoing love of domestic and international travel.

Matthew F. Kostyun, 47, of Lenox Dale

He could often be found in the woods searching for sticks to complete his woodworking projects.

Kenneth MacFadyen, 78, of Longmeadow, graduate of Lenox High School

He was employed by the city of Springfield for 38 years, retiring as deputy director of parks and recreation in 2002.

Joan Codding, 74, of Adams

Primarily a homemaker and mother, she had a lifelong love of all things nature and, later in life, earned her associate degree in environmental science from Berkshire Community College.

Mary Ploss, 72, of Chatham, N.Y.

After high school, Mary worked for St. Luke’s Hospital as a medical assistant, lastly working as a custodian for Berkshire Farms School until her retirement in 2011.

Wesley VanAlstyne, 86, of Sun City West, Ariz., formerly of Lenox

Mr. VanAlstyne began working at General Electric upon graduation from high school, and worked there for 39 years, retiring in 1989.

Lisa Jacobs, 49, of Lenox

She will be missed for her sense of humor, her strength, her smile, her waves and the kisses that she shared with all who knew her as well as those who didn’t.

Rudolph John Mantegari, 74, of Pittsfield

He was the manager of Caligari Hardware in Lenox for 48 years, retiring in 2015.

Students have the opportunity to develop skills in stage combat, performance aesthetics, dance, technical theater, costuming, stage management, marketing and publicity during the Fall Festival experience.

Virginia DeBlois, 94, of Lenox

Everyone who met Ginny knew her as a bright and lively soul.
