News Brief: Great Barrington emergency drill planned for Saturday

The community operations exercise is designed to test the response of local emergency organizations in the event of a real incident.

Emergency drill planned for Saturday

Great Barrington — On Saturday, May 20, local emergency response organizations will participate in a southern Berkshire emergency operations community exercise. The exercise will simulate a mass casualty incident in the community to which numerous agencies would respond and will include Fairview Hospital, Great Barrington’s fire and police departments, Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad and other responders. The exercise is designed to test the response of local emergency organizations in the event of a real incident.

Local residents may notice increased emergency response vehicle activity and radio chatter during the exercise. The exercise will not have any impact on the hospital’s services or response to an actual emergency in the community should one occur.

For more information, contact Heather Barbieri, Fairview Hospital’s director of emergency management, at (413) 854-9656.
