News and Ideas Worth Sharing

POEM: Forecast

Awaiting the storm...

A storm is coming.
Proclaimed in the strong worded warnings
preparing the masses
for potential disaster.

The chaos of fear has
emptied supermarket shelves
packed parking lots;
while the front lines of road crews
lay down salt and load trucks
with sand — ready!
They will be working for days;
missing their families
so we are safe.

Flashlights and candles at the ready.
Wood stoves and generators on call.
Refrigerators and pantries full
as we wait for the frigid temperatures
and heavy snowfall to blanket
our world in white —
in awe of its beauty and danger.
