Monument Mountain girls basketball team raising funds

As they await the start of their season just after Thanksgiving, members of the Monument Mountain Regional High School varsity and junior varsity girls basketball teams, along with their parents and boosters, are raising funds for the team's season.

Great Barrington — The new season for both varsity and junior varsity girls basketball players at Monument Mountain Regional High School will start right after Thanksgiving.

In the meantime, the team, along with boosters and parents, are raising funds for the team’s needs during the season.

Heather Campbell, who is the mother of one of the team players and is a co-organizer for the fundraiser, said that the team needs funds in order to purchase gear, team building events, and other needs.

“These students ride up to two hours on the bus to play in a game, so we need to purchase healthy food for them on the ride,” Campbell said. “It’s a winter sport, but these students go to the gym all the time to practice.”

Campbell added that she could not predict how the team will do this year but that she did think that they would do well this upcoming season.

“They get together all the time as a team because they all love to play,” she said. “I think that they will all do well this season.”
