Irene Stanton, 88, of Lenox died October 18, 2021 at her home.
Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on August 28, 1933, to the late Benjamin and Sophie Eckert Smigel, she was a 1951 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Irene was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Lee.
Mrs. Stanton married Donald P. Stanton on August 16, 1952. He predeceased her in 2009. Together they raised nine children.
Irene is survived by her children: Donald Stanton of Lenox Dale; Pamela Morabita of Palm City, Florida; Sandra Harrington (Michael) of Pittsfield; Nina Kulick (George) of Cheshire, Connecticut; Donna Parise (Ivan) of Thunder Bay, Canada; and Scott Stanton (Jennifer) of Hampton, New Hampshire; her grandchildren: Christina, Jessica, Jason, Danny, Samantha, Ariana, Randy, Erika, Eric, Hunter, and Shawn; and her five great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, Irene was pre-deceased by her daughters Brenda Stanton in 1980 and Linda Marks in 2013, her son Robert Stanton in 2017, her sister Barbara Smigel in 2013, and her brother John Smigel in 2021.
The funeral for Mrs. Irene Stanton will be held Friday, Oct. 22, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240. Burial will follow in Tyringham Town Cemetery. There will be a calling hour beginning at 10 a.m., until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Shriners Hospital in care of the funeral home.
