Gary Archie Phillips, 68, of Great Barrington died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at his home. He was born Sept. 7, 1949, in Plainfield, Connecticut, the son of Charles Archie and Constance (Mackie) Phillips. Gary worked as a logger; then as a machinist at Tiffany-Pickett in Winsted, Connecticut; and then as a maintenance worker at McDonald’s in Torrington, Connecticut, and Winsted and Burger King in Torrington.
Gary is survived by four sons: Douglas S. Phillips, Steven Lee Phillips, Richard Allen Phillips and Michael D. Phillips, all of the Brooklyn/Danielson, Connecticut, area; one sister, Barbara Mella of Winsted; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gary was predeceased by son Gary Archie Phillips Jr.; brothers Paul L. Phillips, Reginald M. Phillips, Gordon Phillips, William Phillips and Bruce Phillips; and sisters Bernice Bassett and Archa Phillips.
A celebration on life will be held Sunday, May 6, at 4 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230 with Rev. Regina King officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
