Brian Raftery, 58, of Lenox

An accomplished musician, he played bass guitar and keyboards with area bands Teaser, the Jim Morrison Road Show, Synn, Mad Anthony and Uncle Salty.

Brian D. Raftery, 58, of Lenox, died Wednesday morning at his home after a long illness.

Born in Pittsfield on May 17, 1959, the son of Frederick A. and Dorothea Brancazzu Raftery, he attended Lenox schools, was a 1977 graduate of Lenox Memorial High School, and attended Berkshire Community College.

Brian was employed for many years by Price Chopper in different managerial positions at its Lenox, Lee, Great Barrington and Pittsfield stores and later worked for a floor sanding company for over 20 years.

He was communicant of St. Ann’s Church where he sang in the church choir and was an altar server during his school years. An accomplished musician, he played bass guitar and keyboards with area bands Teaser, the Jim Morrison Road Show, Synn, Mad Anthony and Uncle Salty. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

Brian is survived by two brothers: Sean K. Raftery and wife Brenda of Lenox, and Patrick M. Raftery and wife Theresa of Rockland; one sister, Brenda M. Hall and husband Jack of Lenox; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Daniel Raftery.

Calling hours for Mr. Brian D. Raftery of Lenox are Sunday, July 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME. The funeral will be Monday, July 3, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Monsignor John J. Bonzagni, pastor of St. Ann’s Church, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian’s memory may be made to the American Transplant Foundation in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.

Candace Gerard, 80, formerly of Great Barrington

Funeral services for Candace Gerard will be held on Friday March 20, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the Birches-Roy Funeral Home, with Reverend William P. Murphy officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 20, from 9 to 10 a.m.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor on March 28 at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston, Mass.

Laurie Platt Winfrey Shnayerson, 83, of Hillsdale, N.Y.

The family plans a private memorial and asks that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Roeliff Jansen Community Library.
