Ruth Anna Ruthel, 91, of Great Barrington

Ruth loved singing in the choir at the First Congregational Church in Great Barrington. She also served many years as an aide for the Visiting Nurse Association.

Ruth Anna Ruthel, 91, of Humphrey Street in Great Barrington, died September 26, 2016 at her home.

Born July 27, 1925 in Berlin, Germany, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mathilde Grill Newole. She was educated in Germany and moved to this country in the early 1950’s. She married her husband Hellmuth Ruthel on February 6, 1954 in Pittsfield and they then moved to Gt. Barrington where they raised their three sons.

Ruth loved singing in the choir at the First Congregational Church in Great Barrington. She also served many years as an aide for the Visiting Nurse Association.

Ruth is survived by her sons Robert, Norbert and Gordon, all of Great Barrington. She was predeceased by her husband, Hellmuth, in 2006.

A graveside service celebrating the life of Ruth Ruthel will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Gt. Barrington conducted by Rev. Charles VanAusdall.

There will be no calling hours.

Stephen Joseph Tynan, 67, of Great Barrington

A graveside service for Stephen Joseph Tynan will be held on Thursday, March 19, at 10 a.m. in Saint Peter’s Cemetery, with Reverend William P. Murphy, pastor, officiating. Family will receive friends at a calling hour from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Birches-Roy Funeral Home.

Candace Gerard, 80, formerly of Great Barrington

Funeral services for Candace Gerard will be held on Friday March 20, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the Birches-Roy Funeral Home, with Reverend William P. Murphy officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 20, from 9 to 10 a.m.

Thomas B. Finn Jr., 75, of Pembroke, Mass.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor on March 28 at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston, Mass.
