Willis A. Wilcoxson, 91, passed away peacefully April 30, 2018, after a short illness.
The son of Alfred and Miriam French Wilcoxson, he was born July 15, 192. He attended local schools and Northfield Mount Hermon School. A charter member of the VFW and a veteran of World War II, Willis served overseas in Europe and California as a military policeman. After his discharge from the Army, he worked as a carpenter in the Great Barrington area, retiring in 1980.
Willis was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Ruth Tully Wilcoxson, whom he married in 1947. He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Janice) of Nashua, New Hampshire, and his daughter Jean Raifstanger (Timothy) of Alford; as well as grandsons Kristopher (Aimee) of Sandisfield and Blake (companion Jessica Platt) of Alford; and step-grandsons Brian, Kevin and Patrick (Rebecca) Thomas. Â He also leaves great-grandchildren Chevelle, Sadie and Kasen; “step-grandson” Keegan; and two nephews, Peter Windrush and Jonathan Capon of Maine. He was also predeceased by his sister, Norma.
At Willis’ request, a private service with military honors for the family was held at Elmwood Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at Geer Village and Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation for the great care they gave to Willis.
