Williams College student killed in ski accident at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort

An investigation into the accident is being conducted by the Berkshire State Police Detective Unit.

Hancock — Alex Kemp, a 19-year-old New Jersey resident and Williams College student, has died following a ski accident at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort.

According to Julia Sabourin, Chief of Operations of the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office, the accident took place on Monday, Jan.6

At around 2:39 p.m., 911 dispatch received a call that reported an individual sustained injuries while skiing down the mountain.

The accident took place on the left side of Cutter Trail, and the caller said that Kemp went over an embankment and appeared to have suffered significant head trauma.

Jiminy Peak’s Ski Patrol was dispatched to the scene and Northern Berkshire EMS arrived shortly afterwards to treat Kemp.

He was transported to Berkshire Medical Center then Baystate Medical Center for additional care.

According to Sabourin, there is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved at the time of the accident.

An investigation into the accident is being conducted by the Berkshire State Police Detective Unit.
