William Enser Jr., 67, of Lee

Bill owned and operated the former Berkshire Enviro-Labs in Lee for over 35 years before his retirement three years ago.

William S. Enser Jr., 67, of School Street, Lee, died Thursday, Nov. 2, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield with his three sisters at his side.

Bill was born Jan. 6, 1950, the son of the late William S. Enser Sr. and Elizabeth Guristante Enser. He was raised and educated in Lee and was a graduate of the Lee High School class of 1967. During this timeframe he also earned his Eagle Scout. Continuing his education, Bill received his undergraduate degree from St. Anselm College and his master’s degree from Michigan State University. Bill owned and operated the former Berkshire Enviro-Labs in Lee for over 35 years before his retirement three years ago. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a member of the Lake Buel Restoration Project, responsible for the start-up and its harvesting system. Designing and renovating his childhood home was a fun project since his retirement. He also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Bill leaves behind his three sisters: Anne D. Enser of Lee, Beth Maloney and husband Bob of Buckeye, Arizona, and Mary P. Dowling and husband Bob of Slingerlands, New York; two nieces: Dina Cakebread and husband Jason, and Brianna Dowling; two nephews: Erik and wife Sarah Maloney, and Shawn Dowling; his aunt Ruth Enser Fraser of New Port Richey, Florida; and several cousins.

Funeral services for William S. Enser Jr. will be held Thursday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Lee with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Brian McGrath, pastor. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation in Bill’s memory to either St. Mary’s School, St. Mary’s Church or the Lee Congregational Church Restoration Fund in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. To send a donation, leave a message of condolence or share pictures, visit www.kellyfuneralhome.net.
