Willard R. Curtis, 85, of Ashley Falls

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post #6851 in Canaan. .Willard worked in construction and drove truck for Watta Crete and American Stone

Willard R. Curtis, 85, of Clayton Road in Ashley Falls, Mass., passed away on March 29, 2017 at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington, Mass.

A native and lifelong resident, Willard was born in Canaan, Conn., on April 22, 1931 to the late Laura Coon Curtis and C. Orville Curtis.

Willard worked in construction and drove truck for Watta Crete and American Stone until his retirement.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post #6851 in Canaan.

He is survived by his daughter Holly Smith, his two sons Willard A. and Trevor Curtis of Massachusetts, along with four grandsons, one great-grandson and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his sisters; Patricia Slater of Conn., Dorothy Oen of Florida, Susan Percy of Massachusetts, and Nancy Bagnaschi of Connecticut, and his brothers Wesley of Nebraska, Alan (Corky) of Connecticut and Clarence of Oregon.

Willard was predeceased by his daughter Heidi Curtis and his siblings Olive Thomas, Harriet Patteson, David (Bud) Curtis, Chester, Harold and Carl Curtis.

In accordance with his wishes there will be no services. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

A service for Roger will be held at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on February 21, 2026. A celebration of life will be held at the Great Barrington VFW immediately after.

Dorothy M. Conklin, 85, of Great Barrington

A burial will be held in the spring.

Catherine A. Wells, 84, of Sheffield

The family will receive family and friends at Birches-Roy Funeral Home on Saturday, January 31, from 1 to 3 p.m. A funeral service will be held immediately after the calling hours followed by a celebration of life at 4 p.m. at Bogies in Great Barrington.
