News and Ideas Worth Sharing

Welcome to the two sides of democracy

At almost the same time that approximately 20 citizens were peacefully protesting on January 6, in Pittsfield, a single woman, who was also peacefully protesting in another city, was arrested and hauled off to jail.

To the editor:

According to the local media, approximately 20 citizens peacefully participated in a protest on January 6, in Pittsfield.

No one was arrested. Peaceful protests are still allowed in some areas of our country.

At almost the same time that the protests in Pittsfield were taking place, a single woman, who was also peacefully protesting in another city, was arrested and hauled off to jail.

How was she “protesting?” She was praying.

That woman was Ashley Babbitt’s mother. The arrest happened in Washington, D.C.

In case you don’t remember, Ashley Babbitt was the unarmed, peaceful protestor who was murdered by a capitol police officer—an officer who should have been fired for previously leaving a fully loaded pistol in a men’s room in Washington, D.C.

Additionally, despite what the media has claimed, Babbitt was the only person murdered on that January 6.

Welcome to “democracy” under Liberal Democrats.

Please note: I write this as a private citizen and not as a member of any town board or committee.

Jamie Minacci has Stockbridge in her bones — please re-elect her to the Select Board

Jamie Minacci understands that a strong Stockbridge adds to the strength of the Berkshires.

Why I will not be voting for Jamie Minacci for Stockbridge Select Board

It has become evident to me that the person I so strongly supported in her first election has acted in many ways contrary to how I had thought she would.

I hope to have a productive and inclusive discussion on the Chapter 61 land at Interlaken Cross Road at the Stockbridge Town Meeting

Despite some challenging moments, it was still an opportunity for all participants to gain a greater understanding of the nuances of the situation and hopefully have that context drive more productive discussion at Town Meeting.
