TurnPark Art Space, Guild of Berkshire Artists present outdoor multimedia installation ‘Six Feet Apart: Zero Degrees of Separation’

Each of the works in this show reflects the artist's personal experience dealing with a world forever changed by COVID-19.

West Stockbridge — When TurnPark Art Space was still in the planning stages, an outdoor art space near downtown seemed like a terrific idea and a natural fit. But three and a half years after its opening, TurnPark has proven to be a better idea than anyone could have anticipated, because its 16-acre grounds are perfect for all manner of socially distanced exhibitions, installations and performance events — so perfect, in fact, that when the Guild of Berkshire Artists decided to hold their next gallery show in the open air, they quickly thought of TurnPark Art Space and contacted the owners, Katya and Igor Gomberg.

The Gombergs loved the idea of exhibiting large multimedia works that address the pandemic’s human impact, so they readily agreed to partner with the Guild on the upcoming multimedia installation “Six Feet Apart: Zero Degrees of Separation.” The show, running Oct. 10-24, features nine Guild artists:

Each of the works in this show reflects the artist’s personal experience dealing with a world forever changed by COVID-19. Employing a variety of media — including natural objects found in the woods, foam, textiles, glass, encaustic and clay — the works will be installed in TurnPark’s Great Meadow, mounted in individual, free-standing wire frames and separated from one another by 15-foot chalk circles in the grass. These nine circles will form a larger circle, providing aesthetically pleasing and safe viewing access.
