To the editor:
Letters regarding The Foundry’s quest for an all-entertainment permit literally adjacent to Truc Orient Express have not addressed the financial impact for Truc’s defense against her home and business.
This is a needless expense and could have been avoided if the previous Select Board, and now the Planning Board, had recognized that allowing a musical venue adjacent to a home and restaurant would not work. Special permits are literally special and this is not one.
I am assuming that Truc’s very capable attorney charges at least $250 per hour. There have been at least five board meetings for two hours per meeting plus research and private discussions. I am thinking that Truc has spent at least $3,500 to date to protect herself.
The town has created the variables leading to this personal, financial disaster for Truc Nguyen. It did not have to occur and can be ended with a denial of the special permit application.
