Great Barrington — This week, W.E.B. Du Bois Middle School officials had to deal with a student who came to school with a toy gun.
According to an email sent to the school community by Principal Miles Wheat, which was obtained by The Berkshire Edge, the incident took place when the student was being transported to school on one of its buses.
”A student had a plastic toy gun and was showing it to other students while on the bus,” Wheat wrote. “Students who were on the bus reported the incident to teachers and school administrators. We acted quickly to address this issue including confiscating the toy. While this incident is upsetting I want to emphasize that there was never a physical threat to the safety of our students.”
In his email, Wheat wrote “If you would like your child to speak with one of our counselors or share more information with one of our administrative team, please let me know.”
