Great Barrington — On Tuesday, June 13, Town Tax Collector Alicia Dulin announced via email a list of multiple properties that the town plans to seize by June 30 due to a lack of payment for taxes.
Two of the properties on the list, located at 659 Main Street, are owned by the Fair Ground Community Redevelopment Project.
According to the email, the Fair Ground Community Redevelopment Project owes the town $17,707.43 in back taxes for fiscal year 2023.
According to its website, the fairgrounds property was acquired by Bart and Janet Elsbach “with the vision to develop it into a resource for the community and by the community.”
The project attained a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation status in 2013.
The organization’s website and Facebook page have not been updated since 2021.
Also back in 2021, town officials took the Elsbachs to task for a lack of communication.
Also on the list is The Granary LLC, located at 33 Rosseter Street, owing a total of $22,070.54 for Fiscal Years 2022 and 2023.
