Tony Award winner William Finn has died

Finn wrote the music and lyrics for "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee'" and served as an Artistic Producer at Barrington Stage Company,

Berkshire County — Various media outlets are reporting that William Finn has died at 73 in Bennington, Vermont.

Finn won two Tony Awards in 1992 for Best Book of a Musical for “Falsettos” which he co-wrote with James Lapine, and also a Tony Award for Best Original Score for “Falsettos”.

In 2005, he was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Original Score for “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”.

Since 2006 Finn served as an Artistic Producer at Barrington Stage Company’s Musical Theater Lab in Pittsfiel
