Thomas Smith, 69, of Rensselaerville, N.Y.

The family would like to give its heartfelt thanks to the staff at Berkshire Rehabilitation Center.

Thomas Hoose Smith, 69 from Rensselaerville, New York, passed peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Berkshire Rehabilitation Center in Sandisfield.

He is survived by his daughter Chasity (John) McGivern of Knox, New York; son Che Smith of Berne, New York; and his former wife Cheryl Schmidt. He also leaves five grandchildren: John Todd McGivern of Knox, and Thomas Che, Amanda, Patrick and Meaghan Smith from Herkimer, New York; and his siblings Laurie Lee Pearson and Jamie Smith. He was predeceased by his brother Roland Smith.

The family would like to give its heartfelt thanks to the staff at Berkshire Rehabilitation Center especially Carla and Shelby – you meant the world to him.

Burial with military honors will be held Friday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, New York. Donations in memory of Thomas may be made to the Patriot Riders in Altamont, New York, through FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, which is caring for the arrangements. The funeral for Mr. Francis T. Duke will be held on Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Church in Lenox, with Rev. Michael Tuck officiating. Burial will be private in Corashire Cemetery in Monterey. There will be no calling hours.

There will be a service held on Wednesday, May 14, beginning at 11 a.m., at the Roche Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 13, from 4 to 7 p.m.
