Thomas J. Laska, 75, of Great Barrington, passed away on February 4, 2016 after a brief illness at Bay State Hospital.
Mr. Laska was born in Housatonic on April 6, 1940, son of the late Stanley W. and Blanche Magdalenski Laska. He was a 1957 graduate of Searles High School and served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force as a cryptographer. Tom worked four decades as a skilled carpenter.
The lifelong Red Sox fan enjoyed sports and horse racing. He had no hobbies but passions, which included hunting, fishing, pencil drawing, and golf. His greatest passion was hand crafting collectable turkey calls, becoming one of the premier call makers in the country.
Tom leaves two sisters; Marion Doyle of New York State and Jane Laska of Housatonic. He is survived by three children: William Laska and his wife Adriene of Lee; Emily Betti and her husband Robert of Lanesborough, and Laurel “Trey” Laska of Pittsfield.
A celebration of life memorial gathering will be held on Friday, August 5 at 11:30 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington with Military Honors. Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.
