Thomas Carpenite, 93, of Fisher Lane, South Egremont, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington.

He was born July 23, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, to Felix and Louisa Carpenito. He attended Pratt Institute and City College. He enlisted in the Air Corps at the outbreak of World War II and earned his wings as a fighter pilot in P-51s. He worked for Sperry Gyroscope in Smithtown, New York, and Data Design Labs, where he wrote the missile fire control systems documentation for Trident submarines.
Thomas married Rosemary Reichert in 1967. They moved to South Egremont when his company was transferred to General Electric. After retiring from Data Design Labs and GE, Tom had his own consulting firm at Becton Dickinson in Canaan, Connecticut. Tom was a member of the South Egremont Board of Health. He was a certified Canadian Ski Instructor and 30-year Professional Ski Instructor of America teaching at Mont Tremblant in Canada, Catamount Ski Area and Ski Butternut.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his sister-in-law; a nephew and niece; two grandnephews; a grandniece; a great-grandniece; and a great-grandnephew, all of Florida. His brother predeceased him.
