This Thanksgiving season, The People’s Pantry needs your help more than ever

We are grateful for you—our community of supporters—because, without your help, we couldn’t meet this growing demand. Every donation you make goes to providing healthy, nourishing food to those in need right here in Great Barrington.

To the editor:

Thanksgiving is a time when many worthy organizations reach out for support, but we are writing today to share why our mission at The People’s Pantry is especially important—because for so many of our neighbors, the need is immediate and personal.

Imagine sitting down to a Thanksgiving meal, but instead of joy, all you feel is worry about tomorrow’s hunger. That is the harsh reality for hundreds of families in our community. Many won’t even have the food available to make that Thanksgiving meal. Last year, we were feeding 600 people a week. This year, that number has risen to 750—including children and seniors who rely on us to make it through the week.

And while many organizations ask for your help during the holidays, this is local. These are your neighbors, your community members, and, in some cases, your friends. We aren’t just providing food; we are creating a space of dignity and hope for those who need it most.

We are grateful for you—our community of supporters—because, without your help, we couldn’t meet this growing demand. Every donation you make goes to providing healthy, nourishing food to those in need right here in Great Barrington.

Thanks to a generous matching grant, the first $5,000 raised will be doubled. This means your support will go twice as far to help us meet the rising demand for nutritious food in southern Berkshire County.

We won’t sugarcoat it: The challenges are greater than ever before, and we need your help now more than ever. Your gift, no matter the size, will have an immediate impact.

As you sit down to your Thanksgiving meal, please consider making a tax-deductible gift to The People’s Pantry. Together, we can ensure that every family in our community has enough to eat—not just for the holidays, but beyond. To donate, visit The People’s Pantry’s website or return the enclosed envelope.

Thank you for being part of this essential work.
