THEN & NOW: West Stockbridge’s Zucchini Festival

This year’s zucchini festival starts today in downtown West Stockbridge.

Tall tales tell us that local zucchini aficionados from West Stockbridge held an annual, clandestine party at the fictitious farm of Zuckerman Zucchini. The vintage photograph shown above purportedly shows Zuckerman with one of his gigantic squashes. To this day, zucchini enthusiasts travel to West Stockbridge to cook, catapult, caress, and celebrate the beloved courgettes.

This year’s zucchini festival starts today in downtown West Stockbridge. The “Now” photograph shown below was actually taken several years ago, and features the late Donald Moulthrop with a normal-size zucchini harvested from his garden.
