THEN & NOW: F-2 Milk Bar & Restaurant

Local lore reveals that owner Frank Zollner used his initials, “F and Z,” to name the business, but the Z on the building looked more like the number 2, so the name “F-2” stuck.

Once famous for its alpha-numeric name, the F-2 Milk Bar & Restaurant was one of Sheffield’s most popular eateries. According to former town historian, the late Lillian Preiss, the restaurant began as a small dairy bar on North Main Street (Route 7) in the late 1930s. It expanded several times over the decades. Local lore reveals that owner Frank Zollner used his initials, “F and Z,” to name the business, but the Z on the building looked more like the number 2, so the name “F-2” stuck. Later owners of the F-2 included Louis Dragon, Nicholas Rutsis, John Igoe, and Caesar Scagliarini. The F-2 evolved further with names like The Shed, Limey’s, and The Bridge. The latest iteration, The Frog, recently closed.
