The Sheffield Cultural Council’s call for 2021 grant applications

We encourage applicants, as much as possible, to offer events and activities that can be presented safely, yet effectively.

Sheffield — The 2021 applications for Massachusetts Cultural Council grants which benefit the local Sheffield community are due November 16, 2020, and are now available at https://www.mass-culture.org/lcc_public.aspx.

In the past the Sheffield Cultural Council has awarded funds to events such as the Fall Shakespeare Festival at Mt. Everett High School and to many other experiences in music, art, science, dance, history, and nature. In addition, grants have gone to events at the Sheffield Senior Center and the Bushnell-Sage Library, the Ashley Falls Memorial Day parade, school trips, and the Sheffield Fair. This year, during the global pandemic, programs that could provide safe social distancing went forward, while others were postponed until 2021.

We encourage applicants, as much as possible, to offer events and activities that can be presented safely, yet effectively. We also ask applicants to include alternative plans in their proposals, such as pivoting to virtual events, in case COVID-19 protocols prevent the original plans from being implemented.

During difficult times, the arts and humanities help us more than ever to see beyond our daily lives.  The Sheffield Cultural Council feels sure that once again energetic, imaginative, resourceful applicants will come forth, providing Sheffield residents with interesting new ideas and activities to delight and inspire in 2021.
