Tell CHP board to stop attrition of health providers

In her letter to the editor, Dr. Diane Singer writes: "The health care given at CHP will suffer dramatically as wonderful providers leave in frustration, are forced out, threatened, or not welcomed back."

To the Editor:

Some of the finest physicians, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, nurses, grant writers and administrators in Berkshire County work or have worked at Community Health Program’s offices in Pittsfield, Lee, and Great Barrington over the years it has served the community.

They have resigned or been fired for the many reasons that have been revealed in the press in the past few months. The health care given at CHP will suffer dramatically as wonderful providers leave in frustration, are forced out, threatened, or not welcomed back. A message from patients may be the only way to stop the attrition of providers and to insure that CHP continues to give excellent care.

Two of the most recent to leave or not be welcomed back, are pediatricians Dr. Siobhan McNally and Dr. John Horan.  Please, if you are patients at CHP and have received great health care from Dr. McNally, Dr. Horan, or any other provider, let the Board of Directors know with a letter or e-mail to the editor of this newspaper.

Let the Board of Directors know that you care about what is happening at CHP and that you want your doctor to be there when you need him or her, for yourself or for your child. CHP “is proud to say that all of our programs and services were designed at the urging of the people that we serve and are free or based on one’s ability to pay. Everybody receives the same high quality care from CHP.” Give the Board of Directors a clear message that they need to stand by the mission of giving high quality care to everyone and to listen and respond to the needs of the community, now.

Diane E. Singer, MD

Great Barrington

Diane Singer is married to pediatrician John Horan, who resigned from CHP last fall. Dr. Singer practices ophthalmology part-time at CHP.

Jamie Minacci has Stockbridge in her bones — please re-elect her to the Select Board

Jamie Minacci understands that a strong Stockbridge adds to the strength of the Berkshires.

Why I will not be voting for Jamie Minacci for Stockbridge Select Board

It has become evident to me that the person I so strongly supported in her first election has acted in many ways contrary to how I had thought she would.
